About Trinity Central

Trinity Central is a church in the heart of Vancouver.

Welcome to Trinity Central!

Trinity Central is a downtown Vancouver church with an evening service at UBC. Whether you’re exploring your faith, looking for a church or just passing through on holiday, you’re very welcome: thanks for stopping by! We’d love you to join us for our Sunday morning meetings at 10:30am at the Vancity Theatre in Yaletown or our Sunday evening meetings at 6:30pm at Hillel House on UBC Campus.

Who are we?

We’re a Christian community that’s all about loving God and loving people. Our vision is to serve Vancouver by building a Christ centred church that changes minds and hearts and empowers people to serve and transform every area of society.

How can I find out more?

We have a monthly “Newcomers Lunch” which is a great opportunity to chat with some of the leaders of Trinity Central in a relaxed setting.  The Newcomers Lunch is on the last Sunday of each month after the morning service in Yaletown. We are happy to provide the food so just come along, enjoy lunch with us and make some personal connections.

How can I get involved?

One of the best ways to get involved and meet other people is to join a LifeGroup. Another great way to get involved is to join a serving team: if you are interested in serving at Trinity Central there are many teams to get involved in, we’d love to hear from you.

Below you’ll find more in depth answers to frequently asked questions.

What kind of church are you?

First, we’re a community that loves God and loves people. That’s at the heart of everything we are and do. It means that each of us is living towards a deeper love for God and knowledge of God. We are working out life together in the context of different life experiences, cultures and stages of life.

The Bible tells us that the earth is the God’s, and everything in it. This means that God is interested in all matters of life, society and culture. We believe that every Christian is called to live in a way that displays God’s love and care to the world through declaring the good news of what Jesus has done, engaging with our culture and caring for those who are disadvantaged.

Trinity Central started as a church plant from Christ Central church in Fredericton, NB, and is part of the Newfrontiers family of churches, with strong connections in Canada and throughout the rest of the world.

What do you believe?

At risk of being wordy – we’re a church that is reformed and charismatic:

  • Reformed – we love the Bible. We believe in the sovereignty of God over all things, and that Scripture is His authoritative ‘Word’ in all matters of life.
  • Charismatic – we’re spirit filled. We believe that God gave the Holy Spirit to empower people for life as a Christian. We believe that the gifts of the Holy Spirit are for today, and are available to all believers. The church is the community of God on earth, formed and empowered by the Spirit.

You can read our statement of faith here.

Where is your church meeting on Sundays?

We have two Sunday services: a morning service in downtown Vancouver at 10.30am at the Vancity Theatre and an evening service at 6:30pm at Hillel House on UBC campus in the far west of Vancouver. We’d love to have you join us at either, or both! Please note however that only our morning service has a dedicated Kids Church.

What else is happening?

Community is really important to us. We are a people that loves the Bible and is empowered by the Holy Spirit. We meet together in LifeGroups during the week where we eat, laugh, study and pray together.

We also believe that having fun is an important ingredient in community life, and so social events are a regular part of church life.

What is Newfrontiers?

Newfrontiers is a worldwide network of churches joined by shared values, mission and relationship. We believe and are committed to the integrity of scripture while embracing the full expression of the Holy Spirit’s activity. The Holy Spirit is a Spirit of mission, empowering the church community to be effective witnesses to the ends of the earth. We are committed to training leaders and planting churches in every nation and people group in the world. We have a passion for local churches that celebrate the triumph of grace, are secure in the finished work of Christ, full of the Holy Spirit and committed together to our world mission to glorify Jesus among the nations.
