We love to pray!

Prayer is conversation with God. We encounter Him, build relationship with Him, worship Him and process life with Him. This is true for us individually and it’s also true for us as a church family.

Just as each of us develops personally in our relationship with God through prayer, trusting Him and going on faith adventures, so this is also true for us as a community.

We each build a history with God, learning to depend on Him and proving His faithfulness in our lives. In the same way each LifeGroup, and the church community as a whole, develops a history together with Him. Already God has proved his faithfulness to us in many ways: in answering our prayers and touching the lives of our friends and colleagues,  and providing for us as a church family with finances and venues.

We want to encourage prayer throughout the life of the church.

We pray individually

For each of us to grow in our relationships with God we need to be developing our prayer life. Through the preaching and the corporate prayer life of the church we hope to encourage you to grow in your prayer life, as well as providing resources and modeling what this can look like.

We pray in LifeGroups

LifeGroups pray together every week. Praying for one another and for friends and colleagues is the primary focus of prayer in LifeGroup. Prayer is a conversation, not a monologue, and LifeGroups are a great context for learning to hear from God and using Spiritual Gifts. Prayer will often involve praying in the Spirit and prophecy. When prophetic words are given each person should ‘weigh’ what has been brought, asking whether they feel it is Biblical, encouraging and helpful.

We pray corporately

The most exciting meeting in the life of Trinity Central is “Calling on God” – our prayer meeting. In fact, it’s the heartbeat of Trinity Central.

Calling on God happens once a month when we gather the LifeGroups (and all who are interested) to pray. It provides us with an opportunity to worship, pray, and hear from God together. If you want to know what’s happening in church life then this is the place to be!

Week of Prayer

Three times a year we kick off the semester with a Week of Prayer. We stop all other activities in church life and prioritize praying together. We encourage everyone to make space in their week to pray, and we give some suggestions in terms of what to pray for.

We also encourage everyone to consider fasting during the week – whether for all of it or for part of it. Fasting is a discipline we engage in for periods of time where we deny our physical appetite in order to grow our hunger for God.

Join us

We’d love to encourage you to join us to pray. There really is nothing better than being before God in prayer with the saints! Many of us don’t pray because we don’t plan to pray. It’s not that we don’t want to pray but if we don’t prioritize it we won’t do it.

So as you finish reading this, why not commit to being at the prayer meetings, to putting them into your calendar now and determining that nothing will replace them?

Our next Week of Prayer begins on January 24th 2021
